CJTSafetyCommittee April 17, 2023 Screening of Employees The CASC thanks you for submitting DARTS and SMS reports regarding the new screening procedures in our Western bases. We recognize that this process has been challenging and we have relayed all your concerns to the company. The Company told us that these new screening protocols are the result of a specific customer requirement. In situations where FCMs transit through one of the impacted facilities, a check upon entry and exit is required. This is for every employee, not solely FCMs. This procedure also coincides with our upcoming IOSA audit and will ensure that we are meeting established standards. The screening process is completed by a handheld wand and FCMs may be required to remove objects from pockets if detected. The search of personal bags will be visual and the FCM may be asked to open their bags for security to look inside. There is no requirement for security to physically search your baggage. The Company is looking at alternate methods for FCMs to enter and exit these facilities that does not include this screening protocol. Unfortunately, this resolution will take time as the physical layout and limitations of the buildings hamper a quick fix. Please continue to file DARTs and SMS reports where you feel needed, and if you feel there was overreach in application of the security guidelines. We thank you again for all the reports filed and continued patience as this process evolves. In Solidarity, Captain Ian Munro Ian.munro@alpa.org Cargojet CASC Committee Chair MEC Officers Capt.
